2011 Audi A8L coming to the Beijing Motor Show

The long wheelbase 2011 Audi A8L makes its debut at the Beijing Motor Show next month. So far, Audi has yet to announce the technical details of the 2011 A8L. There are rumors that the new A8L will be powered by the 4.2 FSI V8 petrol engine, which delivers 372 hp and 445 Nm of torque and is mated to the 8-speed tiptronic transmission.

Due to the added weight, it’s likely that the performance is reduced somewhat. It’s probable that the 2011 Audi A8L won’t be able to hit 100km/h in 5.7 seconds. But it’s believed that the top speed will still be at the electronically limited 250 km/h. It’s undisclosed if Audi will also be offering the 2011 A8L hybrid version.

2011 Ford Focus RS500 Sport Car

This is the brand new Ford Focus RS500, a limited-edition of just 500 units based on the popular sporty hatchback. The new car marks the end of the current generation Ford Focus RS (Ford already announced that is currently working on a next-generation) and receives more power and torque compared to the standard version as well as a bespoke interior trim. Under the hood, we find the same five-cylinder engine featuring a new improved induction kit and a revised exhaust system, delivering an extra 45 bhp over the total output of the standard car of 300 hp.

Torque was also upgraded from 325lb ft to 339lb-ft. The new car is capable to make the sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds (standard version makes it in 5.9 sec) while the top speed achieves is 163 mph or 262 km/h. As you can see from the photos, the new car comes in an matte black finish (the cars are painted in gloss black paint and then shipped to coatings specialist 3M’s site near where a matte film is laid over the top).

The gloss paint is retained only on the lower grille and splitter, the rear spoiler and the rear diffuser. In order to complete this design, brake calipers are finished in red. Inside, we find red detailing but also a plaque on the centre console with the car’s edition number. No words about the price yet!

New York Autoshow: 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon

Prior to the New York Auto Show, General Motors revealed today the brand new Cadillac CRS-V Sport Wagon, foreshadowing the next addition to its V-Series performance line. The new car carries the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine found also on the sedan and coupe, capable to deliver an impressive 556 hp. The new CTS-V Sport Wagon offers six-speed automatic and manual transmissions and thanks to its powerful engine it pushes out 551 lb-ft of torque. With these numbers, the car is capable to hit 60 mph in less than four seconds, which is in line with the rest of its V siblings.

Despite its dimensions, the car loads on only about 200 pounds over the sedan. The chassis features magnetic ride control fitted with tour and sport settings, high-performance Brembo brakes as well as 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 tires. The fuel consumption of the car is expected to be around 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Regarding the pricing, expect a base-price of $61,000 and $65,000 for the version loaded with options. According to the manufacturer this is still a show car and it’s not intended for production, but some of its outfittings could be used for future trim packages.

New York Autoshow: 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Receives RS Package

After we’ve showed you the brand new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco, it’s time to see another premiere for this year’s New York Auto Show: the RS package for the brand new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The new package will be available for the LT and LTZ trim levels and consists of unique fascias, rocker moldings, rear spoiler and fog lamps. Also, an uplevel instrument cluster is part of the package and includes chrome accent rings, replacing the standard silver finish as well as opaque cluster bezels that allow the cluster’s ice blue backlighting to shine through. “For customers who want even more personality and presence in their vehicle, the RS appearance package builds on the already bold face and coupe-like proportions of the Cruze,” said Michael Simcoe, executive director, North American Exterior Design.
