Toyota Auris Hybrid (2010): new spyshot

Toyota showed off its Auris Hybrid Concept at this autumn's 2009 Frankfurt motor show – and here's the finished version testing in Europe ahead of launch in autumn 2010.

Toyota Auris Hybrid 2010

This will be Toyota's first mainstream hybrid; the Prius has pioneered the petrol-electric technology in a standalone bodystyle, but now the Japanese want to roll out the Hybrid Synergy Drive across its entire volume model range. So the Auris is first of many more Toyotas to wear the HSD hybrid badge of honour.

The 97bhp 1.8-litre petrol-electric drivetrain of the Auris Hybrid is largely shared with the Prius, giving this five-door hatch sub-100g/km CO2 emissions married to 0-62mph performance in around 10sec.
What's new on the Auris Hybrid?

Like on the Prius and Honda's Insight, there are numerous aero tweaks to make the Auris cleave the air more efficiently. Not surprising, as BMW engineers told us this week that the aero wheels on the new ActiveHybrid 7 alone save 2% off fuel consumption.

So there are changes at the front end, and the rear bumpers visible in this spy picture are flatter. They make the car look wider, but are in fact designed to optimise airflow and reduce turbulence and drag. The car sits 20mm lower, has a new rear spoiler and a drag figure of around 0.28cd.
Is the Auris Hybrid really green then?

It should be compared with conventional Auris models - and because it's a full hybrid, it can run on battery power alone in zero-emissions mode. There will be several driving modes selectable by the driver: Eco for maximum efficiency; Power for more performance; EV mode for full electric running for 2km at up to 31mph.

The Auris Hybrid production car scooped here will be built in the UK's Burnaston factory and go on sale in the second half of 2010.

Amazing Cruises in Caribbean

If you are ever fortunate enough enjoy the joys and delights of a cruise then quite literally you will be participating in the penultimate of holiday experiences . This is an sector of travel that first became popular at the begining of the 20th century. in those early days however it was only ever available to the extremely rich and famous. Today with the most competitive prices the cruise industry has ever known these sensational vacations of a lifetime are now within the grasp of us all. Gone are the days of the segregated floors [ I bet we’ve all seen titanic film] now anyone is welcome aboard these emporers of oceanic wonder.

A tribute to modern technology and a triumph for maritime technology these awe inspiring goliaths are the toast of all who have travelled in them. Some of the biggest cruise liners in the world can carry well over three thousand passengers and are capable of running on a fully self sufficient basis for an amazing span of up to two weeks at a time. This being the case it turns out that the 2 main points of worry for the majority of potential cruise ship passengers are these, If I am on board for such an amount of time would I get bored? what happens if a health issue should occur? Well quite simply there is no need to worry in the slightest.

Shows, Theatres and numerous other means of entertainment are all part of the package and included in all of today’s modern cruise vacation offers. When it comes to your health and well being the majority of vessels would give any competent medical team a real run for their money. Equipped with the best state of the art medical facilities and manned by top notch medical personnel it is thought by many that should a medical emergency happen then you would be better taken care of at sea than in many of today’s local health clinics. So you see although you might find yourself in the middle of the ocean and 1000’s of miles from civilisation you can be assured that both your physical and recreational needs would be fully taken care of on a level that would be hard to surpase.

Probably one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a sea vacation is this. No other single holiday would give you the opportunity to enjoy and visit such a huge and varied number of resorts. destinations and nationalities. Portugal one day and Italy the next, the world really is your oyster when you embark on a cruise and whats even better, All this can be achieved in the greatest of comfort and in the lap of sheer unadulterated splendour.

Go on give it a try, You might even get to sit at the captains table.

First Airbus A380 Delivered to Emirates Airlines

The first of many Airbus A380 SuperJumbos has been delivered to Emirates a few minutes ago. Emirates will start flying this aircraft to New York in just a few days (see our earlier post) and will receive many more in the coming years. Currently Emirates has 58 Airbus A380’s on order, which is by far the largest order from any airlines of the world for this type of Aircraft.

The first Emirates A380 has the following seating arrangement:

* 14 seats (suites) in First Class

* 76 seats in Business Class

* 399 seats in Economy Class

Besides all the brand new seats across the three classes, and the first class suites equipped with electrically assisted sliding doors and massaging, full lie-flat beds (seats), the A380 will have very impressive commons areas, such as a lounge bar at the rear-of the upper deck (where First and Business class seats are located) and a luxury-hotel like bathroom in First class (with two showers available). The “Shower Spas” can be attended upon contacting the purser to make an appointment. The dedicated Shower assistants will prepare the Shower Spa prior to each appointment! Even though the bar has been planned before, the Showers seem like a brand new (and very nice) idea!

The Emirates A380 is the first to use the GP7200 engines (Singapore Airlines - the so far only operator of the superjumbo - has been using Rolls Royce power).

The plane will be flying the inaugural flight between Dubai and New York JFK on August 1 and 2, while it will enroll into normal service starting August 8, 2008. Emirates expects to receive 4 more of the aircraft this year.
